Rec Soccer

Every kid plays. No tryout, no travel, no politics.

Rec is the heart of MAYSO and it has been since 1976. Teams are balanced each season so nobody sits on a stacked roster or a hopeless one, every registered player gets a uniform, and games are on Saturdays at GT Bray Park where you can park once and watch.

Florida is the reason this works. We run three seasons a year, so the answer to "when can my kid start" is almost always "in a few weeks" instead of "next September."

Questions

What parents ask

How much is rec soccer in Bradenton?

Registration is $150 per player, plus a $50 volunteer deposit that is refunded when your family completes its volunteer commitment for the season. The uniform, FYSA registration and insurance are all included in the $150.

What ages can play?

MAYSO rec soccer runs from U6 through U14, placed by birth year rather than school grade. If you are unsure which group your child falls into, our registration page will place them from their date of birth.

Does my child need experience?

No. A large share of every season is first-time players, and teams are balanced so beginners are never stranded on a team of veterans. If your child has never touched a ball, rec is exactly where they should start.

When and where are games and practices?

Games are Saturdays at GT Bray Park in Bradenton. Practices are set by your team's volunteer coach, usually one or two weeknight evenings, also at GT Bray.

What is the $50 volunteer deposit?

MAYSO is run almost entirely by parent volunteers. The deposit is held at registration and returned in full once your family completes its volunteer shift for the season. It is not an extra fee — it is how a nonprofit keeps registration at $150 instead of raising it.

How many seasons are there each year?

At least three — fall, winter and spring. Fall is the largest. Because we run year-round, a family that misses one registration window is never waiting a full year to get started.

Want extra touches between practices? Private and small-group training is open to every rec player.
